Two keys, not one
Your passphrase plus a key held by your computer. Steal the file or learn the passphrase, and you still cannot get in.
A local-first password manager for Windows
PrathakLocker stores your passwords in one locked file on your own computers. There is no account to hack and no company that can be told to hand it over.

Why PrathakLocker
Built for one job: keeping your passwords on the computers you own.
Your passphrase plus a key held by your computer. Steal the file or learn the passphrase, and you still cannot get in.
A second passphrase opens a believable vault of harmless entries, and quietly tells someone you trust.
The server only holds a locked copy it cannot read. Downloading it takes a passkey tap.
The same vault in a desktop window, in your browser on this computer, and from the command line.
After a few idle minutes, on sleep, and the moment you lock Windows.
The password goes to the clipboard without appearing on screen, and is removed soon after.
The tour
Use the arrow keys or the buttons. The same tour is inside the app.
Get it
PrathakLocker is not offered as a download yet. For now you build it from the source on your own computer, which takes a few minutes.
Windows 10 or 11, and Node.js 24 or newer.
In the project folder, run these three commands:
npm install
npm run build
node dist/cli/main.js app --install-shortcut
The last line adds PrathakLocker to your Start menu and Desktop. Prefer the browser? vault ui opens the same screens in a tab. Prefer the terminal? vault --help lists everything.
PrathakLocker opens in a Microsoft Edge window, so it needs Edge, which is already on Windows 10 and 11.
Honest limits
Good security tools say where they stop. Here is where PrathakLocker does.
